In search of the greenest strategy in Europe
he Green Thinker Award
honours the real estate development company with the greenest environmental strategy in Europe. The selection of 53 contenders is based on a list of the leading property developers in Europe compiled by Property
EU at the beginning of 2008. A shortlist of nominees will be published on this website at the end of August. The winner will be announced at a special award ceremony at the
EXPO REAL trade fair in Munich on Tuesday, 7 October.
The Green Thinker Award consists of a green sculpture by Dutch artist David Veldhoen. Aptly entitled ‘Weight of Thoughts’, the prize captures the mood of the current debate on sustainability in the real estate industry. There is no shortage of ideas or thoughts – the key question is which ones work best? How can the real estate industry achieve its green goals easily and efficiently?

David Veldhoen: ‘As an almost logical answer to the industrial and digital revolution, a green revolution now appears to be unfolding. An inevitable, but fantastic development and the best fashion trend you could ever imagine. Because who doesn’t want a cleaner and more pleasant world? I am fascinated by the cross-fertilisation between architecture, fine art and ‘greenness’. What I attempt to show in my work, through special visual references to plants, animals and natural processes, is what nature means to us.’
